Bobby Poole, AIA, is a founding partner of Chermayeff, Sollogub and Poole, Inc. Mr. Poole attended the University of Illinois, receiving his B. Arch. in 1970 with departmental honors in design, and his M. Arch. in 1971, focusing on design and education. He was an architectural design instructor at the University of Illinois from 1969-1970. From 1973-1977, he was an instructor at the Boston Architectural Center. He has been recently a thesis advisor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

 

From 1971 to 1975, he was a Senior Designer for Sert Jackson and Associates in Cambridge, and a Project Architect at Stone and Webster Corporation in Boston.

 

In 1975 Mr. Poole joined Cambridge Seven Associates as a designer and became a principal in 1985.

At C7A, in addition to addressing building technology and production standards, he became a key designer of the aquariums of Baltimore, Osaka, Tennessee, Genoa, and Lisbon. He was the project architect of the Forest Hills intermodal transportation station of the MBTA. Since 1990 he has served as a Director of IDEA, International Design for the Environment Associates, Inc.

 

At CSP he is playing the leading role in such projects as the expansion of the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Long Island Aquarium, the New Bedford Oceanarium, and the National Marine Life Center in Bourne, Massachusetts, in addition to playing a central role in the management of the firm and its design and technical standards, applied to all projects across the board.
